Tammy Madewell RDH, OMT

Over  my  years  in  the  dental  field I  had become  very interested  in  orofacial  myology and the  effects  the  disorders  have on  our  overall  health.   In addition to my dental hygiene degree I obtained additional training to become an orofacial myofunctional therapist.  I am very blessed to  be able to  practice  both  dental  hygiene  and  orofacial  myofunctional  therapy  in  my  beautiful  home state.

OROFACIAL MYOLOGY AND OROFACIOAL MYOFUNCTIONAL DISORDERS (OMD)

Orofacial  Myology  is  the study  of  normal  and  abnormal  patterns of use  of  the  mouth  and  face, and  their relationships  with  dentition,  speech,  and  vegetative functions.

Orofacial  Myofucnctional  Disorders (OMDs) are disorders  of  the  muscles  and  their  functions  that innervate the  face  and  mouth.   OMDs  may  affect  facial  skeletal  growth  and  development,  chewing,  swallowing, speech,  occlusion,  TMJ  movement, stability  of  orthodontic  treatment,  facial  aesthetics,  and  more.

Myofunctional  Therapy  is  a holistic, non-invasive  approach  to  treating  OMDs.   The program  is  fun  and  progressive for each individual.
